Eco Friendly

Our Dry Cleaning machines are the only ones of their type in Tasmania and we are the only dry cleaners in the state to not use Perchloroethylene solvent in our dry cleaning process. We use 2 latest generation European made machines, installed in March 2010. These machines are very energy efficient.

These use an environmentally friendly solvent called D60 Hydrocarbon. This is practically odourless and therefore eliminates the smell usually associated with dry cleaning. It has excellent cleaning and soil removal qualities and is excellent for cleaning delicate garments - suitable to clean delicate garments marked as Dry Clean F

- Maintain fibres better, making them last longer
- Garments are softer and colours brighter
- Gentler on delicate beading
- Lighter than water, won’t pollute waterways
- Evaporates in air, broken down by sunlight & dissipates
- Not classified as dangerous goods

Perchloroethlyene dry cleaning produces a waste that needs to be recycled, Hydrocarbon does not. The only waste generated by the cleaning process is essentially clay, ground to the consistency of talcum powder. It is completely biodegradable and safe for landfill.

Water Saving Strategy:
Dry cleaning machines need to be cooled in much the same way that a car engine uses a radiator to keep it cool. The most efficient way to cool them is to use water, and we have installed a water tank collection system to enable us to reuse 100% of the water used to cool the machines. This water is heated as it cools the machines and it is then also used to pre heat the water going into the hot water service greatly reducing the energy required for hot water heating.

This enables us to save an amazing 4 million litres of water a year in our dry cleaning and laundering process. We have designed this system in house and are the only Dry Cleaners, to our knowledge, that use this process in Australia.
